“In my thirtieth year, in the fourth month on the fifth day, while I was among the exiles by the Kebar River, the #heavens were opened and I saw visions of #God . On the fifth of the month—it was the fifth year of the exile of #King Jehoiachin— the word of the #Lord came to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, by the Kebar River in the land of the Babylonians. There the hand of the Lord was on him. I looked, and I saw a windstorm coming out of the north—an immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brilliant light. The center of the fire looked like glowing metal, and in the fire was what looked like four living creatures. In appearance their form was #human , but each of them had four #faces and four wings. Their legs were straight; their feet were like those of a calf and gleamed like burnished bronze. Under their #wings on their four sides they had #human hands. All four of them had faces and wings, and the wings of one touched the wings of another. Each one went #straight ahead; they did not turn as they moved. Their faces looked like this: Each of the four had the face of a #human being, and on the right side each had the face of a #lion , and on the left the face of an ox; each also had the face of an #eagle .” #‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭1:1-10‬ ‭#NIV‬‬ http://ift.tt/2bD1yx8 #biblequotes #bibles #biblestudy #bibleverses #bible #biblejournaling #biblescripture #bibleverse

“How deserted lies the city, once so full of people! How like a widow is she, who once was great among the nations! She who was #queen among the provinces has now become a #slave . Bitterly she weeps at night, #tears are on her cheeks. Among all her #lovers there is no one to comfort her. All her #friends have #betrayed her; they have become her enemies. After affliction and harsh labor, Judah has gone into exile. She dwells among the nations; she finds no resting place. All who pursue her have overtaken her in the midst of her distress. The roads to #Zion mourn, for no one comes to her appointed festivals. All her gateways are desolate, her #priests groan, her #young #women grieve, and she is in bitter anguish. Her foes have become her masters; her enemies are at ease. The #Lord has brought her grief because of her many sins. Her children have gone into exile, captive before the foe. All the splendor has departed from Daughter Zion. Her #princes are like deer that find no pasture; in #weakness they have fled before the pursuer. In the days of her affliction and wandering #Jerusalem remembers all the #treasures that were hers in days of old. When her people fell into #enemy hands, there was no one to help her. Her enemies looked at her and laughed at her destruction. Jerusalem has #sinned greatly and so has become unclean. All who #honored her despise her, for they have all seen her #naked ; she herself groans and turns away. Her filthiness clung to her skirts; she did not consider her future. Her fall was astounding; there was none to comfort her. “Look, Lord, on my affliction, for the enemy has triumphed.” The enemy laid hands on all her treasures; she saw #pagan nations enter her sanctuary— those you had forbidden to enter your assembly.” ‭‭#Lamentations‬ ‭1:1-10‬ ‭#NIV‬‬ http://ift.tt/2bJMjB0 #booksofthebible #biblejournaling #bible #bibleverses #biblestudy #bibles #biblequotes

“The words of Jeremiah son of Hilkiah, one of the #priests at Anathoth in the #territory of #Benjamin . The #word of the Lord came to him in the thirteenth #year of the reign of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah, and through the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah #king of Judah, down to the fifth #month of the eleventh year of Zedekiah son of Josiah king of Judah, when the #people of Jerusalem went into #exile. The word of the #Lord came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the #womb I knew you, before you were #born I set you apart; I appointed you as a #prophet to the nations.” “Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.” But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I #command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord. Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth. See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.”” ‭‭#Jeremiah‬ ‭1:1-10‬ ‭#NIV‬‬ http://ift.tt/2c5GSfO #booksofthebible #bibles #biblestudy #bibleverse #biblejournaling

“The vision concerning Judah and #Jerusalem that Isaiah son of Amoz saw during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, kings of Judah. Hear me, you heavens! Listen, earth! For the #Lord has spoken: “I reared #children and brought them up, but they have #rebelled against me. The ox knows its master, the #donkey its owner’s manger, but Israel does not know, my people do not understand.” Woe to the #sinful nation, a people whose #guilt is great, a brood of evildoers, children given to #corruption ! They have forsaken the Lord; they have spurned the #Holy One of Israel and turned their backs on him. Why should you be beaten anymore? Why do you persist in rebellion? Your whole head is injured, your whole heart afflicted. From the sole of your foot to the top of your head there is no soundness— only wounds and welts and open sores, not cleansed or bandaged or soothed with #olive oil. Your country is desolate, your cities #burned with fire; your fields are being stripped by foreigners right before you, laid waste as when overthrown by strangers. Daughter Zion is left like a shelter in a vineyard, like a hut in a cucumber field, like a city under siege. Unless the Lord Almighty had left us some #survivors, we would have become like #Sodom , we would have been like Gomorrah. Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom; listen to the instruction of our God, you people of Gomorrah!” ‭‭#Isaiah‬ ‭1:1-10‬ ‭#NIV‬‬ http://ift.tt/2bN9Wrr #bibleverses #biblejournaling #bibleverse #biblestudy #bibles #booksofthebible

“Solomon’s #Song of Songs. Let him #kiss me with the #kisses of his mouth— for your #love is more delightful than #wine . Pleasing is the #fragrance of your perfumes; your name is like #perfume poured out. No wonder the #young #women love you! Take me away with you—let us hurry! Let the king bring me into his chambers. We #rejoice and delight in you; we will #praise your love more than wine. How right they are to adore you! Dark am I, yet lovely, #daughters of Jerusalem, dark like the tents of Kedar, like the tent curtains of Solomon. Do not stare at me because I am dark, because I am darkened by the sun. My mother’s sons were #angry with me and made me take care of the vineyards; my own #vineyard I had to neglect. Tell me, you whom I love, where you #graze your #flock and where you rest your #sheep at midday. Why should I be like a veiled woman beside the flocks of your friends? If you do not know, most #beautiful of women, follow the tracks of the sheep and graze your young goats by the tents of the shepherds. I liken you, my darling, to a mare among Pharaoh’s chariot horses. Your cheeks are beautiful with earrings, your neck with strings of jewels. We will make you earrings of gold, studded with silver. While the king was at his table, my perfume spread its fragrance. My beloved is to me a sachet of myrrh resting between my breasts. My beloved is to me a cluster of henna blossoms from the vineyards of En Gedi. How beautiful you are, my darling! Oh, how beautiful! Your eyes are doves. How handsome you are, my beloved! Oh, how charming! And our bed is verdant. The beams of our house are cedars; our rafters are firs.” ‭‭Song of #Solomon‬ ‭1:1-17‬ ‭#NIV‬‬ http://ift.tt/2bzuH9z #bibles #biblestudy #bibleverse #biblejournaling #bibleverses

“The #words of the #Teacher , #son of #David , #king in Jerusalem: “Meaningless! #Meaningless !” says the Teacher. “Utterly meaningless! #Everything is meaningless.” What do people #gain from all their labors at which they toil under the sun? #Generations come and generations go, but the #earth remains forever. The #sun #rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises. The #wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course. All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again. All things are wearisome, more than one can say. The eye never has enough of seeing, nor the #ear its fill of hearing. What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which one can say, “Look! This is something new”? It was here already, long ago; it was here before our time. No one remembers the former #generations , and even those yet to come will not be #remembered by those who follow them.” ‭‭#Ecclesiastes‬ ‭1:1-11‬ ‭#NIV‬‬ http://ift.tt/2bEev8o #booksofthebible #bible #bibleverses #biblejournaling #bibleverse #biblestudy #bibles

“The #proverbs of #Solomon son of #David , #king of #Israel : for gaining #wisdom and instruction; for #understanding words of insight; for receiving instruction in prudent behavior, doing what is right and just and fair; for giving prudence to those who are simple, #knowledge and #discretion to the young— let the #wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance— for understanding proverbs and #parables , the #sayings and riddles of the wise. The fear of the #Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck. My son, if #sinful men entice you, do not give in to them. If they say, “Come along with us; let’s lie in wait for innocent blood, let’s ambush some harmless soul; let’s swallow them alive, like the grave, and whole, like those who go down to the pit; we will get all sorts of valuable things and fill our houses with plunder; cast lots with us; we will all share the loot”— my son, do not go along with them, do not set foot on their paths; for their feet rush into evil, they are swift to shed blood. How useless to spread a net where every bird can see it! These men lie in wait for their own blood; they ambush only themselves! Such are the paths of all who go after ill-gotten gain; it takes away the life of those who get it.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭1:1-19‬ ‭NIV‬‬ http://ift.tt/2bEe8uB #bibles #biblestudy #bibleverse #biblejournaling #bibleverses #bible #bible #booksofthebible
